20 Hours to Rethink Trauma-INFORMED PRACTICE- FROM THE BODY UP.

For anyone working with humans: a training to change perspective.

TCTSY - 20H FOUNDATIONAL TRAINING

The TCTSY - Traumasensitive Yoga, Foundational Training is a 20-hour introduction to the core concepts and applications of Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY). An evidence-supported approach to healing — body-centered and choice-led — for Complex Trauma, Developmental Trauma C-PTSD, and PTSD. Created for yoga teachers, social workers, educators, mental health professionals, those who have endured trauma, and anyone supporting individuals or communities impacted by trauma.

This fall I will host two trainings:

The first one takes place over three Saturdays — October 11, 18, and 25 — online via Zoom. Instruction is in English, with materials and literature provided in English.

The second one takes place over three Saturdays - November 15th, 22nd, and 29th - online via Zoom. Instruction is in Finnish, with materials and literature provided in English.

Why trauma-informed practice matters?

Trauma is not a niche issue — it is a widespread reality shaping how people show up in any space: classrooms, clinics, workplaces, yoga classes, and communities. Any work that involves working with humans means encountering people who have endured trauma.

Being trauma-informed is a shift in perspective. It means recognizing how overwhelming stress, interpersonal trauma, and adversity shape the body, the mind, and our behavior. It calls for learning and unlearning alike, to create spaces that feel possibly safer, more supportive, and rooted in empowerment. It also invites us to reflect on the systems that perpetuate trauma, and on our own lived histories and social positioning that shape how we see and relate to the world and others.

This self-reflection is essential: without it, trauma-informed care risks becoming just a set of techniques. With it, we can meet others with greater humility, authenticity, and awareness.

Topics include:

  • Trauma Theory, Attachment Theory, and Interoceptive Neuroscience

  • Stress and the nervous system

  • Power, oppression, and intersectionality

  • Building trauma-sensitive relationships

  • Core elements of TCTSY methodology

  • TCTSY practice and practice facilitation (including a sample sequence)

This training is also the primary prerequisite for the annual 300-hour TCTSY Certification Program. While it does not qualify participants to facilitate TCTSY independently, it equips you with essential tools to integrate trauma-informed principles into your current scope of practice.

The Foundational Training is approved for 20 Continuing Education Hours (CEs) with Yoga Alliance and 18 CEs with the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT).
